Carols on The Green
Our Carols on The Green evening was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many villagers come out to sing carols, drink mulled wine and be merry! This year Longacre School were joined by Wonersh & Shamley Green School who organised some wonderful carol singing including brave soloists. Sally our vicar, did a great job at organising the proceedings and getting the village to join in the carols. The Hall was filled with an array of Christmas stalls and there was even a children’s craft table this year organised by Wonersh & Shamley Green School PTA.

Bingo, Cocktails & Canapes
A new event was introduced to the Hall this year - an evening of Bingo, Cocktails & Canapes. A huge success with everyone geting the hang of it pretty quickly. The tables and all the Hall decorations looked amazing. A great deal of work work went into making the canapés and we foraged local blackberries and made a Bramble syrup for the cocktails. We also raised much needed funds for the Hall.

Arbuthnot Hall has been granted planning permission for the redevelopment. Waverley Borough Council has essentially agreed the plans as submitted. Many thanks to the over 100 people who supported the application on the Council website. The next job is to crack on with fundraising of over £1m to ensure the Hall is fit for the future for all.

Youth Pickleball
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game. It is played with a bat similar to a table tennis one and a hollow plastic ball. On April 11th we ran two sessions for the younger generation who had a great day. More youth pickleball to follow!

Newcomers Evening
It was lovely to welcome the new residents of Shamley Green to our annual Newcomers evening. This evening presents a wonderful opportunity for the various village societies to come together to recruit new members. The highlight of the evening has to be the delicious pancakes cooked by volunteers from the village.
